Delhi University Sports Complex

The director is the main execute head of the unit while the chairman supervises the functioning of the Sports Council. The establishment is also has around five to six coaches in various disciplines who have been appointed by the Sports Authority of India.
The main purpose of Delhi University Sports Complex is to initiate, coordinate, executive and manage various activities of sports including adventure sports and other sports. It also promotes the general interest in games and sports in the University campus. It also helps in improving the standard of competitive sports and games of the University and other affiliated colleges and institutions. The activities of sports are mainly conducted from September to February.
The main achievements of the University are grouped into various categories like A-1, A-2, B-1, B-2, C-1, C-2, C-3. These are international, national, inter varsity levels in the team games and individual performance. The University has also received the prestigious Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Trophy for excellence in Sports. It received the Trophy on the National Sports Day from his excellency, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Azad, the Hon'ble President of India in the Ashoka Hall of Rashtrapati Bhawan. This award has been received for about 14 times and the university has also bagged the cash prize of Rs. 2 Lacs, by the Ministry of Sports Department,India.

The University also been honored by many prestigious trophies for excellence in Sports during the All India Inter University sports competition. The awards like Dr. B L Gupta Trophy for excellence in Sports and Kridamaharshi Shri Meghnath Nageshkar Trophy for excellence in Sports in the men section. There are other accredited trophies and recognized awards which the university has bagged and is proud of the number of sports persons who have excelled in sports at the international levels. While some of the sports persons have also received the Dhronacharya and Arjuna Awards. There are other sports person who have won medals at Asian, World and other such competitions.
A few names of such outstanding sports person are Arjuna Awardee, Shyam Lal for gymnastic; Kr. Bhavaeshwari for rifle shooting, Prem Nath for Wrestling, Manjit Dua for Table-Tennis, Madan Lal for Cricket, Jagmohan Sapra for Weight-Lifting; Arun Lal for Cricket, Rajinder Amarnath for Cricket, Kirti Azad for Cricket and many others. Speaking about commonwealth games like Badminton, Baseball, Body Building, Boxing, Chess, Cricket,Diving, Handball, Hockey and many other games are to be held at the Delhi University Sports Complex.
