As the host city of Commonwealth Games 2010, new Delhi will be the center of attraction of the whole world in the year 2010. Cycling is one of the principal sporting events in the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
The details of competition venues have already been finalized. The Indira Gandhi Sports Complex has been chosen for the event of cycling in the Commonwealth games 2010. The Delhi Development Authority on the public-private-partnership mode is developing the Games Village situated Akshardham Temple.
The Games village is being developed to provide housing facilities to the coaches and well as the players of the different countries coming to participate in the impending Commonwealth Games to be held at New Delhi.New Delhi games village that is still under the process of development occupies an area of 47.3 hectares. Within its vicinity, there are several heritage monuments as well as historical landmarks. This village is the ideal place for the relaxation of the athletes participating in the new Delhi Commonwealth games.
In the Commonwealth Games 2010, the event of cycling will be start from the 4th of October. It will come to an end on 13th of October. In accordance with the game schedule, there are cycling events on 4th, 5th , 6th, 7th, 9th October 2010. After 9th October, again on 13th October, the final round of cycling will take place.
The Indira Gandhi Arena where the event of cycling will be held, is considered to be India’s largest sports arena. Apart from this, it happens to be the second – largest sports arena in Asia. About twenty five thousand people can seat in this sports complex to witness the event of cycling in the new Delhi Commonwealth Games scheduled to be held in the year 2010.
