Commonwealth Shooting Championships

The events of Commonwealth shooting championships take place every two years. There are several categories which are included in these events and each category has its own award. The events which have taken place till date are as follows:

• 1995 event in New Delhi in India
• 1997 event in Langkawi in Malaysia
• 1999 event in Auckland in New Zealand
• 2001 event in Bisley in England
• 2003 event was canceled which was supposed to be held in New Delhi
• 2005 event in Melbourne in Australia
• The upcoming 2009 event is supposed to take place in India, but the venue has not been selected yet.

Shooting is the game, which involves performing with guns. Aiming is the main talent required and this is why the participants have to exercise concentration to a great extent. There are several types of guns which are used for the purpose of various events. Crossbows and normal bows are two of the other weapons also used for the purpose of playing these games. Practical shooting is also another part of the game. Shotgun, rifle and handguns are some of the weapons largely used by the participants in various Commonwealth shooting championships. The 2010 Commonwealth shooting championships are going to take place in New Delhi. Pragati Maidan in New Delhi has been selected as one of the prime venues for these events.
