Christchurch

There is still time before the 2010 Commonwealth Games are held in New Delhi, India. Glasgow has already been announced as the venue for the 2014 Commonwealth Games. Serious bidding for the 2018 Commonwealth Games have already started, with some countries officially confirming their interest in bidding, and some other nations are known to be planning to come forward and bid to host the 2018 Commonwealth Games. New Zealand has confirmed its interest in the bidding. Two New Zealand cities, Christchurch and Auckland, are being considered as potential hosts for the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
Neither Christchurch nor Auckland is a first time bidder. In fact, both cities have hosted the Commonwealth games before. New Zealand Commonwealth Games hosting history points out that Christchurch hosted the Commonwealth Games in 1974, and Auckland in 1950 and 1990. According to general public opinion, Auckland would have a better chance of winning over Christchurch in an international competition, despite the fact that they are the more recent host.
It is not yet official where Christchurch proposes to hold the Games. They might consider the QE2 Stadium, after giving it a makeover. Other potential sites would be the Jade Stadium, the Westpac Center with a capacity of around eight thousand, the QE2 Park Aquatic Center and the Town Hall.
As for Auckland, They would probably consider the Eden Park and the rich sore of the city's indoor venues. The Vector Arena on the waterfront with a capacity of 12000, the Trusts Stadium and North Shore Events Center with an average capacity of 5000-6000 each. Even the Telstra Clear Pacific Events Center in Manuka with a capacity of around 25000 can be considered.
