About Tanzania:
Tanzania is am East African country that is bordered by Barundi, Rwanda and Congo in the west, Uganda and Kenya in the north, Malawi, Zambia and Mozambique in the southern region and it is bordered by Indian Ocean in the east. Dodoma is the capital and Dar es Salaam is the largest city of Tanzania. Swahili is the official language and Tanzanian shilling is the currency of his country, which is situated in the East African Time Zone.

Participation of Tanzania in Commonwealth Games:
Though Tanzania started participating in Commonwealth games from the year 1966, it has been consistent in its participation till 1982. then it resumed to participate again in the year 1990 after a short break in between. In 1994 Commonwealth games, Tanzania won a Bronze medal but failed o win any gold or silver medal. Bronze medal was won by Matumla Hassan for boxing in Men's Featherweight event. In 2006 Commonwealth Games, Samson Ramadhani Nyonyi brought gold medal to Tanzania, in men's Marathon event. Tanzania also won bronze medal in Men's 10000 m, and Fabiano Joseph Naasi was the winner. The athletes of Tanzania have already geared up and they have been practicing hard in order to perform better in the forthcoming Commonwealth Games in 2010.
