The country was last seen performing in the Commonwealth Games which took place at Melbourne in the year 2006. It was represented by 22 sportsmen. It was the fifth time the nation had entered the event. It holds a record of having won several times at the games. The nation has about three medals in credit, which were won at the Commonwealth Games. These include 2 silver and 1 bronze.
Seychelles participated in 7 out of the 16 game competitions which were held at this event. The participation covered several games like athletics, boxing, weightlifting, badminton, table tennis, swimming and cycling.

Weightlifter Janet Thelermont became the Seychelles' first medal winner in the Games. She took a bronze in the Women's 69kg class after lifting a weight of 205 kg.
