Commonwealth Games is one of the multinational and multi sport games, which occur after every 3 years. The event is graced by the participation of numerous countries, and Kenya is one of the prominent countries that participate every year. Not only participation, Kenya also wins at most of the events. Popular athletes wait for the Commonwealth games, to showcase their talent in this prestigious event. Next Commonwealth Games will be organized in New Delhi, India, in the year 2010. 2006 Commonwealth Games was organized at Melbourne in Australia, from 15th March to 26th march, 2006.
About Kenya:
Kenya is an eastern African country, which is bordered by Somalia in the east, Ethiopia in the north, Uganda in the west, Tanzania in the south and Sudan in the northwest. Indian Ocean runs along the southeast border of Kenya. It is named after Mount Kenya, a significant landmark of the country. Nairobi is its larges and capital city and Swahili is the official language along with English. Kenyan Shilling or KES is the currency of Kenya which is situated in the East Africa Time Zone.

Participation of Kenya in Commonwealth Games:
Kenya has been participating in the Commonwealth Games from the year 1954 to 1982 and again from the year 1990. In the 2006 Commonwealth Games, Kenya participated in a number of events, and managed to win 6 gold medals, 5 silver medals and 7 bronze medals, thus winning a total of 18 medals. The athletes won gold in both Men's and Women's Athletics, including Men's 5000m, 3000m Steeplechase and 800 m race. Women participants managed to win 5000m, 800 m and 10000m race. They practice for 4 yeas to showcase their talent every 4th year and this type also, they are quite confident of winning in a number of events. Kenya was the receiver of silver medals in in both Men's and women's Marathon race. Apart from athletics, Kenya also won bronze medals in boxing.
