Competing Nations Worldwide


Commonwealth Games is sports based event in, which top athletes from the Commonwealth Countries come together participate to participate in a series of competitions or championships. It is held after a period of every 4 years. It is in the nature of a world class competition. According to the opinion of many sports lovers it can be ranked only second in popularity to the Olympics. In the forthcoming 2010 Commonwealth Games, New Delhi, the Competing Nations Worldwide will once again be from the Commonwealth Countries. Over the years the Competing Nations Worldwide has comprised elite athletes who have represented the member nations of the Commonwealth.
The Commonwealth Games are an extraordinary concept in the world of sports. The participating nations share something common in their background. This being that they were formerly all British colonies. The participating nations are all also members of the Commonwealth. This means they are 53 independent sovereign states in todays date.
The Commonwealth in the nature of an international organization brings together countries with diversities. They might be diverse from the social, political and economic sphere. However, they get an opportunity to work within a framework of common ideals and mission as members of the Commonwealth. Some of these values and goals to which the Commonwealth nations have to adhere to are working towards the promotion of democracy, human rights, providing for good government for the residents of the country. Keeping up to the principles of law, enforcement of liberty and world peace are also what they work towards.

Thereby, some of the Competing Nations Worldwide, over the years has been the following countries. These are Anguila, Bangladesh, Australia, Botswana, Canada, Cyprus, Ghana, Jamaica, Nigeria, Samoa, Syechelles and Scotland to name a few. 71 teams participate in the Games. Only6 teams have been a participant in each and every Commonwealth games. These are Australia, Canada, England, New Zealand, Scotland and Wales.
The Maldives became a member of the Commonwealth in the year 1982. A groups of atolls in the Indian Oceans, located at a distance of about 670 kms to the south west of Sri Lanka, this island nation has been participating in the Commonwealth Games ever since the year 1986 .
New Zealand has been one of 6 nations, which hasbeen participating in this event every single year. In fact, it has also hosted the games on some three occasions. The nation made history when they won the first ever Commonwealth Games Rugby 7's gold medal. In fact, this was even repeated by them in the Manchester Commonwealth (2002)
In the 2010 Commonwealth Games, New Delhi, Badminton has been scheduled as the 4th event to take place in a row and the venue chosen for it is the Siri Fort Sports Complex. The top badminton nations are China, Indonesia, Korea, Denmark and England. In fact, Australia, has won not less than 11 medals in this game. It has been a Commonwealth sport ever since the year 1966.
Shooting has been scheduled to take place in the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range. Australia, Canada and New Zealand have been some of the nations winning medals for shooting in the past.
