Bahamas


The Commonwealth of the Bahamas is a North American, English-speaking country which comprises of about seven hundred islands that form an archipelago. It is positioned in the Atlantic Ocean, southeast of Florida and the United States, north of Cuba, the island of Hispanola and the Caribbean, and northwest of the British overseas territory of the Turks and Caicos Islands. The capital of the Bahamas is Nassau. The country is best known for its Caribbean playground for the rich and famous. It is a member of the Commonwealth nations and has taken part in the Commonwealth games that were held at different venues across the globe with a gap of every four years.

It won two silvers in the athletics event. The winners were Laverne Eve in Women's Javelin Throw (with a throw of 60.54 meters) and Tonique Williams in Women's 400m.
